

Floyd H. Myers passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023. He was born in Cherokee County (close to Bullard), Texas to Pansy (Davis) Myers and Hubert David Myers on August 3, 1932. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and three great granddaughters. He is survived by his wife Gail (Vance) Myers of 67 years from Webster, daughter Renee Human and husband Tony of Brenham, daughter Tammy Rowlands and husband Richard of Friendswood and son David Myers and wife Lillie of Alvin, 12 grandchildren (affectionately called “the dirty dozen”), and numerous great-grandchildren.
Floyd was a lifetime learner and highly valued education. He graduated with a B.S. from the University of Houston, an L.L.B. and a J.D from South Texas College of Law. In 2001 he completed a U.T. Mini Med School. He was licensed in the Supreme Court of Texas, Federal District Court, Fifth Circuit of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit of Appeals, Supreme Court of the United States, Texas Board of Legal Specialization, College of the State Bar and was named Fellow 1994 College of the State Bar. Floyd was active with the State Bar until his 90th birthday. He also held a Texas Real Estate Brokers License with a Real Estate teaching certificate.
He started his work career at Houston Lighting & Power and later moved to GTE from which he retired. He also held positions as City Prosecutor for the City of Webster and Municipal Judge of Webster, Dickinson, and Pearland.
Floyd was passionate about public service and dedicated over 50 years in service to the community. He served on the Clear Creek Independent School Board for 27 years, 19 years as president. He also served on the Gulf Coast Association of School Boards, the Texas Association of School Boards, and the Houston-Galveston Area Council of Governments. Floyd became actively involved in civics by serving as Councilman, Mayor Pro Tem, and Mayor for the City of Webster. He served as Director of Bay Area Bank & Trust and was a Charter member of the Webster Police Academy, Clear Lake A.F and A.M, and the Seabrook Eastern Star. He was also a member of the Webster Fire Department for many years.
He was very proud to have been appointed to the following: “Goals for Texas Program” by Governor Smith, to the State Advisory Committee to the State Board of Education, as Director of Clear Creek Watershed Regional Flood Control District by Commissioners Court of Harris County, to the Texas Municipal League Administration & Finance Committee, and as Alternate to Houston Galveston Area Council Executive Board.
Gardening was a favorite hobby and Floyd spent countless hours planting and tending flowers and trees. It was never too hot to spend a day on his tractor which was one of his happiest places on earth. He enjoyed seeing the accomplishments of his grands and great grands and having time to spend with them.
