Henry Irigoyen, Sr., passed away on December 10, 2020 at the age of 89. Henry was a native Houstonian. Henry graduated from Milby High School, and after high school, he served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1953. He worked as a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for 29 years until his retirement. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, and also served at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
Henry was a loving and caring man, a servant leader, and a man of great faith. He loved the Lord with all his heart, and read his bible daily. He loved his family. He had a passion for photography, travel, painting, and he loved to sing and dance. He was a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, Council 7532, and former Council 7230. He was also a member of the VFW Post 8930.
Following a stroke in 2003, he worked hard to rehabilitate, and although he lost the use of one side of his body, he was still able to get around with minimal assistance until the love of his life, Lupe passed away in 2016. He was then admitted to Regency Village Skilled Nursing Facility. He made new friends and found a new purpose at Regency. He loved to play bargain bidding and bingo and tooted his horn every time he won. He attended bible studies there and at times, he led the group study. He was also the Vice President of the Resident Council at Regency and assisted his fellow residents in whatever capacity he could. He took his computer with him to Regency so he could keep up with current events. He learned how to use his iPad and would FaceTime and e-mail with his family and watch YouTube on his computer, where he would travel the world on train rides via YouTube. He loved to watch Turner Classic Movies with his son, David at his side, and he took up painting again in his spare time at Regency.
Henry was preceded in death by his father Donato Irigoyen, mother Henrietta Perez, brother Paul Donato Irigoyen, sisters Mary Harris and Olivia Saenz, wife Lupe Irigoyen, and son Henry Irigoyen, Jr.
He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Hernandez (Richard), Mario Irigoyen (Vicky), Angela Canlas (Ramon), and David Irigoyen; grandchildren Henry Irigoyen III (Linda), Iris Irigoyen (Jesse), Heather Beebe (Sean), John Cortinas (Leslie), Melanie Jackson (Eric), Aaron Felan (Becky), Adrian Felan (Erica), Amanda Newman (Paul), Andrea Salazar (John), Anthony Irigoyen (Daniella), Melissa Irigoyen, Christopher Canlas, and numerous great-grandchildren, including Liza Oberby, Havanna Irigoyen, Jonathan Cortinas, Tommy (Peanuts) Hernandez, Benjamin and Danikah Irigoyen.

The family also has a special thanks for the staff at Regency Village Skilled Nursing Facility. He enjoyed the fellowship of many residents and staff, who became a part of our family.
