

Hope Fuku Kobayashi was born on December 20th, 1916 in Webster, Texas and was the eldest child of Mitsutaro and Moto Kobayashi. She was the salutatorian at Webster High in 1934 and graduated with a bachelor of arts from what was then known as Rice Institute (now Rice University) in 1937. Hope went to work at Yokohama Specie Bank in New York City where she spent the next four years until returning to help her parents run the farm during the war years. Hope was instrumental in the development of Kobayashi Properties, Inc. and other various closely held family interests; in addition to, serving as both a manager and executive treasurer in these businesses for several years. Kobayashi Rd is an example of one of her lasting contributions. Despite her busy schedule, she took time out to enjoy her avid love of sports, classical music, piano, and beloved pet dogs Dozie and Lulu. She is especially remembered for her dedication to the care of her parents and siblings. She is predeceased by her parents and brothers Thomas, Tokue, Ty, and Riki. She leaves behind sisters, Lily Landress and Mitsu Iwata, and brother, Herbert Kobayashi; as well as, ten nieces/nephews, and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 5PM to 8PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 12:30PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
