

Howard’s parents were from in Brooklyn, New York who later retired in North Carolina. Howard was born November 15, 1931 in Brooklyn where he graduated from Erasmus High School in 1949. He earned a mechanical engineering degree from North Carolina State in 1954. He later joined the U.S. Air Force as a lieutenant in the 11th pilotless bomber squadron. There he served as a guidance control/launch officer. Following his tour of duty he was employed by Martin Marietta, in Denver Colorado. He then moved to Houston where he worked for NASA for 30 years.
Howard had a true gift in artistic and creative endeavors. He carved beautiful pieces that are now displayed in many homes of friends, and loved ones. He was a member of the Houston Woodcarvers Association, where he served as its president. He authored and published several books on the art of wood carving. An example of his talent are wood carved, relief panels depicting the life of Jesus that are now located in the chapel at Clear Lake Presbyterian Church.
A devoted family man, Howard is survived by his wife Mary, his son David Green of Marble Falls, Texas, his daughters Lorie Bobilia of Hartsell, Colorado and Leslie Seavey of Dallas, Texas. Howard had six granddaughters , and one great granddaughter. He is also survived by his older sister Gloria Green.
