

Howard Andrew Reyes, born November 21, 1933, in the Village Burrell Boom, Belize, located in Central America died peacefully in his sleep at home in Houston, Texas surrounded by his loving family on May 17, 2025.
Andrew, as he was affectionately known, began his career at an early age building roads from Belize City to Cayo District in Belize with his late father, Robert Reyes. Years later he would parlay his passion for cultivation and go on to work for the Ministry of Agriculture where he held the position of Agriculture Officer overseeing the vitality of crops and well being of livestock representing the Government of Belize to countries around the world. Andrew was a notable business owner in Corozal Town, Belize and an outspoken politician for the United Democratic Party where he advocated for child education, cane farmers, and city infrastructure. Later, Andrew would go on to work for International Building System (IBS) located in Houston, TX for over 20 years where he worked as lead foreman traveling extensively to Russia, Gabon, Haiti, and Nigeria. In retirement, Andrew was family centered, an avid gardener, and a devout Catholic. A lifelong learner, Andrew was educated at Burrell Boom Methodist School located in Burrell Boom, Belize and eventually earned a Credit Diploma with the Eastern Caribbean Farm Institute of Trinidad where he studied the Practice and Science of Agriculture.
Accompanied in this life, Andrew and Maria were married on December 14, 1958 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in San Ignacio, Belize. Throughout their 66 years of marriage, they would go on to raise 5 children, have extensive careers, and set out to become citizens of the United States of America in 1980, forging a prosperous path forward for future generations in their family.
Andrew’s journey on this earth is one marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering faith in God. His passing has left an undeniable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives he touched.
Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rosina Reyes, his brothers, Armando “Mando” Reyes, Robert “Bob” Reyes, Delphin Henderson, his sister, Delma Bradley, and granddaughter, Cauzette Arriazola.
Andrew is survived by his sisters, Alejandrina Burns, Andrea Hamilton (husband Jerry), Louise Maldonado, wife, Maria Reyes, daughters, Claudette Waight, Stephanie McKinstry (husband Alex), Maria Sattaur and Elizabeth Romero (husband Roberto), his son, Michael Reyes (wife Aracely), 14 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
Although Andrew is no longer a presence in our physical lives, may his memory be a blessing and may we carry forth his legacy of love, compassion and faith in all that we do. Rest easy, Andrew/Dad/Grandad—your light will forever shine brightly in all of our hearts.
A visitation for Howard will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598. A rosary will occur Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 6:00 PM, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 11011 Hall Rd, Houston, TX 77089. A committal service will occur Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 12:30 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home & Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.
