JW grew up in Houston, and at the age of 17 joined the US Navy, and was ultimately stationed in Oahu, Hawaii. He started out working as a boiler tech and while stationed there, JW met Celia, who was born on the island of Oahu, and after a courtship of 3 years he and Celia married, and were married for 47 years until his passing.
After his 4 years of active duty in the Navy, he spent several years in the Navy Reserves, and continued to live on Oahu and began working for city of Honolulu for the next four years. JW loved his job. After living in Hawaii for six years, he and Celia moved to League City, in 1980, where there they settled down, and had a family of 6, 5 girls and 1 boy.
When they they moved to Texas, JW started working for the City of Houston in the water purification plant in Pasadena, where he rose up the ranks and ultimately managed the plant. He retired from the City of Houston, after over 25 years of dedication.
JW always had a very competitive nature, whether it was in the Pool league where he and his son, Jared, and good friend Shonna, formed their team, or whether it was his favorite online golf game in which he competed, and was a team leader. He always said his Dream Team for playing pool included him, his son, one of his brothers, and his uncle, and said with the 4 of them as a team they would be the best team around and would be unbeatable.
JW Loved his family and he had a compassionate nature and loved many others as well. He loved the animals that were always present in their home. More recently, every morning he would wake up, even before the rooster crowed, and JW would be up and ready to feed those chickens. JW also loved his bird, Boogie, a small parrot, who had JW wrapped around his fingers.
JW was predeceased by his dad, Walter Patrick Richardson, Jr., his mom, Joyce Marie Heinrich, his step dad, Harold Heinrich, and his step mom Sally Pierce Richardson.
