Jack D Mays

Jack D Mays, 79, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away December 13, 2016. He was born in Bentonville, Arkansas on January 5, 1937, to John D Mays and Jewel Sue Carpenter Mays. He was married to Donna J Mays for 41 years. Jack retired from NASA after 50 years of dedicated service as a manned test subject, manned test director and security specialist. He was a certified peace officer in the State of Texas and over the years had served in a voluntary status with the city of Pearland, El Lago, and League City. He was a member of the Clear Lake Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John D Mays and Jewel Sue Carpenter Mays.

He is survived by his wife, Donna J Mays; daughter, Debbie Price and husband Ted; son, Jeff Mays and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Trey Price, Taylor Mays, Dylan Mays; brother, Joe Mays and wife Beverly, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; mother-in-law, Jean Motway; sister-in-law, Diane Runte and husband Jim and their two sons; sister-in-law, Deborah Poinsett and husband Brad.

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016, 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Forest Park East Funeral Home. The family will have a private interment at Forest Park East Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children-Galveston.
