James Creek Garrett

JC / James was born in Augusta, GA, grew up in North Augusta, SC, attended North Augusta schools and made lasting memories for the friends who knew him as Billy Allen and have many stories about their shared stunts.

He graduated from the College of Charleston. He has maintained contact with friends and housemates from those crazy days. Secrecy was probably sworn! Some years later he earned a Masters Degree at Christian Brothers.

Two and half years in the Peace Corps in Guatemala followed graduation - there he gained an appreciation for understanding and helping the less fortunate.

From his first part time temporary job as an operator at a refinery in Rensselaer, NY, he steadily moved up in the petroleum/commodities business. His last position at Gunvor US was as Head of Operations.

JC never stopped talking about what his colleagues and mentors had meant to him throughout his career.

Despite his business successes, his many, many interests, love of the outdoors, animals, sports and especially all things related to his life on the water, nothing mattered more than his wife and son.

JC was survived by his loving wife Leticia, his son James Bonham Garrett, his mother Barbara Petrie and her husband Pete Petrie. In addition he leaves behind his father James Garrett, brother Patrick Garrett, his wife Heather, and their children Makenzie, Haley, and Luke. Additional mention Rebecca and Fermin Garcia.
