She was born in Glen Park, Missouri on July 29, 1935 to Joseph W. and Hazel Mae Miller Crowder. She was married to Robert (Bob) J. Foley for 64 years.
Janet was one of 8 sisters, and 3 step siblings. She began her working career in the insurance industry then left for Springfield, Missouri to attend Central Bible College. There she met the love of her life Bob Foley. They were married 8 months later, on August 29, 1955. After the wedding reception he took her off into the “Real World”, New Jersey, at the young age of 20. Bob was just 21 when they began their new life together. Their first son, Alan arrived, eleven months later and then their second son Bobby arrived one year and nine months later. Three years later their daughter Janelle was born.
Janet spent her life in service to God and others. God used her life in a mighty way. She had a gift of hospitability. She was always giving to others unselfishly, making them feel welcomed in their home. She provided cooked meals, parties, and extended accommodations for those needing a place to stay. She led ladies bible studies which touched and changed lives that radically changed the spiritual course of generations to come. She taught Sunday School for many years and was involved in Youth ministries her entire adult life, which made profound impact on countless lives. She also volunteered as a Candy Striper at a local hospital for many years.
Her greatest achievement was raising three children that loved God and they raised their children in the ways of the Lord. No greater legacy. She enjoyed making people laugh and was the center of the fun. She enjoyed ceramics, making porcelain dolls, cooking, baking, and mostly cleaning, that was her favorite.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert W. Foley (Bobby), her parents, Joseph and Hazel Crowder, her 4 sisters: Lorraine Ditch, Jessea Carney, Naomi Conrad, and Susan Stewart.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert (Bob) Foley, her son, James Alan Foley and his wife Cathy Thornton Foley, her daughter, Janelle Ellen Powell and husband, Sherwood Powell, and her 5 grandchildren Samantha Wright, Kacey Martinez, Jason, Jonathan, and Lauren Powell, and 4 great grandchildren, and 3 sisters.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 30 from 12:30PM-2:00PM in the Chapel of Forest Park East Funeral Home located at 21620 Gulf Freeway Webster, Texas. A Celebration of Janet's life will begin at 2:00PM. Immediately following she will be laid to rest at Forest Park East Cemetery.
