Janet Heffron Taber Berry, born on March 29, 1939 in Hilton, New York, left us on April 13, 2015 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Jan attended Empire State College and studied psychology. She used her ability to quickly learn and spend much of her early life working as a Bookkeeper before turning her desire to make a difference to those in early recovery from drug and alcohol addiction through her work in the foster-care system. She touched hundreds of lives, and will always be remembered as a caring and loving person, mother and wife. Jan always gave her love freely, asking for nothing in return, which was personified by her work with foster-care and in the adoption of five children, two of them special-needs, while raising her own two children. She impressed all with her poise, intellect and quick wit. A voracious reader, she seemed to know all subjects ranging from literature to history, art, music, world events, finance, gardening, home design, maintenance, and most of all, people. She touched us all with her love. She was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Daniel Teall, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. She is survived by her husband James H Berry; daughter Jennifer Peer and husband, Shawn; sister Martha Heffron Wiener and husband Lt. Col. Meyer Mike, USAF Ret.; son Juan Diaz and wife Jasmin; son Robert Teall and ex-wife Dorrie; daughter Ashley Taber; daughter Autumn Taber; son Jon Taber; daughter Molly Taber; grandchildren Logan Peer; Shealyn Peer; Colton Peer; Olivia Teall; Yameli Diaz; and Juan Diaz Jr.; nieces Carrie Loughnane Smith and husband Mark; AnneMarie Teall Van Norstrand and husband Scott; Julie Teall Mothrope and husband Rich; and nephew Michael Teall and wife Ellen; and many, many friends. The family will receive family and friends at White Haven Memorial Park, Pitsford, N.Y. At at time to be deterrmined. The world has lost a truly remarkable person.
