Jerry worked as a Surgical & Trauma as well as a Red Cross Nurse for many years after graduating from the University of Houston, and as a volunteer for the Red Cross for decades since. She received many awards and recognition for leading disaster relief and assessments for over 40 national disasters. Jerry has been a florist, caterer, home builder and owned a travel-trailer dealership. In the 80’s she moved with her family from Houston to Huntsville, Alabama. After purchasing a home in New Orleans in 1992, she decided to become a F.T. resident in February 2007 and live out a lifelong dream of enjoying Jazz and great food anytime she wanted it. She has been an active and beloved member of Metairie Baptist Church where she performed volunteer work and started an outreach visitation program for shut-ins and the sick which has meant a great deal to the members of her church.
