

Curtis was born on October 18, 1943 to Joe and Lillie in Yoakum, Texas. After Curtis graduated from Pasadena High School in 1962, he went on to study Journalism and Photography at San Jacinto Community College, the University of Houston and the University of Texas.
While attending the University of Texas, Curtis was also a Science Writer for the UT News and Information Service. He was known for being a lifelong Longhorns fan and was thrilled when his daughter Jennifer attended UT as well.
Curtis began his long and varied career as a journalism writer at both San Jac and the University of Texas. He went on to work in the public relations departments of Brown and Root, St. Regis Paper, and the Texas General Land Office. He also owned several businesses, taught photography, worked in banking, and ran the farmer’s market in Lufkin. His last positions were with Houston Community College where he began as a Public Information Specialist and finally retired in 2011 as Director of Public Relations and Media.
During retirement, Curtis spent his time taking care of his daughter Lilly, going on long walks to the park and enjoying the sunshine. Curtis was an avid gardener, fisher, and hunter. He loved spending time outdoors and watching things grow.
Curtis was predeceased by his father, Joe Frederick Doolan of Gonzales, his mother Lillie Eva Perry of Onalaska, and his brother Troy Dwayne Doolan of Livingston.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Stephanie Angelique Doolan.

A visitation for Curtis will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and a Celebration of Life to start at 2:00 p.m. with a committal service to follow. All services will take place at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, Texas.
