Katherine graduated from Brackenridge High School in San Antonio. At age 18 she married Douglas P. Coryell, with whom she had four children. They were married for 17 years at which time the marriage ended in divorce. In 1969, she met and married John D. Lowe, Jr. and moved to Houston, TX. where they discovered Life Tabernacle Church. They became faithful members of Life Tabernacle Church, pastored by James L. Kilgore and later by his son, James L. Kilgore, II, from 1969 where they taught Sunday School and served as Foreign Missions Directors for several years. They opened their home for around 8 years where Bro. Henry Rose taught Search For Truth Bible studies helping to establish and ground new converts in the word of God. After the Bible study she always served her delicious homemade ice cream, cake and coffee. Many wonderful memories and lasting friendships were made there. On April 1, 1978 her husband died unexpectedly while visiting family in Corpus Christi, Tx. Thereafter, she started the “Silver Eagles” seniors’ group. She remained a widow until May 14, 1994, when she married Robert W. Hamilton a/k/a “Grumpy Bob”. They served on the Hostess Committee together and he joined her in working with the Silver Eagles. What a wonderful time those seniors had.
In the fall of 2008, she and her husband felt led to join James and Kay Waldrep in starting a new church in Bellaire, TX. They had many memorable years at Truth Tabernacle of Bellaire. Robert W. Hamilton died February 18, 2014.
Katherine was a loving mother, a faithful Christian who loved God with all her heart and enjoyed going to church, serving and fellowshipping with others. She loved cats and we often referred to her as the cat lady. She was mischievous, fun loving, and enjoyed playing dominos, 42, gin and pitty-pat. She enjoyed cooking and having friends and family over. The more the merrier. We all looked forward to getting together and enjoying mom’s famous enchiladas. They were the best we ever had. We will miss her hugs, her humor, and her beautiful smile.
A special thank you to all the people who came to visit her in her assisted living facility, playing games with her, praying with her and serving communion, taking her for walks in her wheelchair, teaching her to play pitty-pat, doing crafts with her, putting puzzles together and making her laugh. It helped to make her lonely days not so lonely. God bless you richly for showing such kindness. Also, thank you Jake for always calling to say hi to Great Grandma. It made her smile. Thanks to the nurses of Star of Texas Hospice for your wonderful care and concern for mom.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 26th from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at Forest Park East, Webster, Tx. with service at 3:00 PM and burial to follow. Food and fellowship for those who care to stay.
