So sorry, such a wonderful woman. 
Kandy has been a dear friend for over 20 years and her family has treated me like family. 
I was always welcome at any special holiday and I will always cherish the little time I did get with her and all the family. 
She was like another mother to me. 


As 1st cousins & just a few months apart, Kathy & I were very close, though she could be bossy at times. lol. We were both about 9 years old when in those days before shopping centers & malls, our grandmother took a bunch of us kids downtown Birmingham where all of the department stores had beautiful window displays of moving characters, advertising their goods. The streets were very busy with all the activities of the big city, when Kathy decided to cross the street on her own and ran in front of a moving car, fell down and the front right wheel ran over her torso.  The car of course stopped, and Kathy got up & brushed herself off while all of the shoppers ran over to see what all the fuss was about!  She was tough & so much fun then & never changed. She will be missed and always loved.

 So sorry to hear of Kathy's passing, she was a lesson in how to live; a very dear person.  I've had the gift of knowing  the Kettle family my entire life. My father, John Young; and Earl Kettle had known each other since the 3rd grade. Thoughts and prayers for Tommy and the entire Kettle family.

Dear Aunt Kathy, 
I will start off by saying "I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH"! You were an amazing mother, sister, wife, aunt, and friend.  You always cared about other people before yourself. 
I wished I could have lived next door to you all my life.  The last time we spent one-on-one time together you showed me the amazing things around your house.  Inside and Out. The enormous,  beautiful tree in the front yard, Great-grandmas & Grandfathers pictures, and your fruit trees everywhere on the property.  

You have always been a family person and I wish I could have been more involved during my adult years.  Our love for each other was true. I will always have visions of my childhood with you and my wonderful experiences.  

I know you are now with Little Tommy, Grandma, Aunt Neda, Joey, and other close family members.  You are at peace:)  This is not a goodbye forever. One day we will greet each other with open arms with all our loved ones who are in heaven with you.

I will miss you always but you're in my heart!!

  Life can be hard. It’s the people in your life that makes life so great, the special people who make life better, the special people who unselfishly give of themselves to help you through your life, the special person who takes on the extra burden to care for you, the special person who carries their burden and adds your weight to the mix. So often these special people go unrecognized and get no reward other than loving you. Today I give that recognition to a very special person who has made my burdens lighter and who has given unconditional love through my whole life. The person who came home with burnt hair through experimentation in cosmetology class in high school, the person who grew up to soon to take care of her younger siblings while her mother worked, the person who worked to keep her brothers and sister in line, the special person who shared the burden of her mother, the person who made other lives better through her efforts, the  person some called Mother Kettle, the person who was a mother to many, the person I called sister. Thank you big sister Kathy for all of your love and help. There is a empty spot in many hearts today There is a big hole in my heart. There is a big hole in my life. There is a great memory you left behind to fill that hole. I celebrate the smiles I hold dear. I hear you laughter in my daydreams. I thank you for the lessons of unconditional love. I ask for forgiveness for my burdens you carried. We miss you Kathy.
