

He was born to Ta Nguyen and Khanh Vu, September 4, 1957, in Saigon, Vietnam. Participating in a student exchange program, he relocated to Garfield, Washington, where he graduated at Garfield High School in 1975. Kiet received a Master of Business Administration at Gonzaga University in 1980, and then attended the University of Maryland, where he joined the fraternity Alpha Sigma Nu and obtained his Master of Science in Accountancy and Master of Arts in Economics in 1985 and certified Public Accountant of the state of Maryland in 1987. Kiet married Thao Vivien Nguyen in 1997, and they lived together in Kingwood with three children, Steven, Lily, and Jasmine.
Kiet was an economics professor at Montgomery College and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of his students. He also volunteered at Viet Ngu Hung Vuong, teaching students the Vietnamese language.
Kiet is survived by his loving wife, three children, two parents, four brothers, and three sisters.
A viewing will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday February 20, 2014 at Forest Park East Funeral Home.
Vigil Mass will be held at 6:30 P.M. Friday February 21, 2014 at Vietnamese Martyr Church.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00A.M. Saturday February 22, 2014 at Vietnamese Martyr Church.
Interment to follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to the endowed scholarship started by the LSCS Foundation, Kevin Nguyen Memorial Scholarship at 5000 Research Forest Dr, The Woodlands, Texas 77381.
