

Dr. Marie E. Cocannouer, 81, of Sour Lake, Texas passed away December 12, 2023, in Beaumont, Texas. She was born in Kirksville, Missouri on February 24, 1942, to Norman and Dorothy Ratliff. She was married to Albert Cocannouer for 27 years before his passing in 1987.
Marie had a heart for global ministry and she diligently answered the call. Al and Marie reached may people as they served in Germany, Africa, and Cuba. They eventually moved to the Houston area.
After Al passed away, Marie pursued an education at Oral Roberts University earning several master degrees. A Master of Arts in Education, Master of Arts in Missions, and Master of Divinity. She also went on to earn a Doctor of Ministry.
After graduation Marie was ordained and then took on many different rolls. Pastor, leader, missionary, teacher, intercessory prayer warrior to name just a few. She was an Associate Pastor at Grace Community Church, Minister of Missions at Calvary Church at the Fountains. Marie also served as a Professor for Kings College in California.
One of her greatest accomplishments was she leading a church planting group that was sent to Ireland. The church is still growing and thriving.
Marie had a special gift for helping others to discover "who they were in Christ" and His purpose for their life. She was an educator at heart.
Her hobbies and interests were reading and helping take care of the animals around her home. She had a special love for cats.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson Jacob Persohn, and daughter Latifa Ring.
Marie is survived by daughters Leysha Andrews and Lenita Persohn and husband Joe; son-in-law Stevan Ring; grandchildren Ricky and wife Angie Ring, Lisa Ring and partner Isela Ornelas, Joseph Persohn and significant other Decker Blevins, Joshua Persohn, and Jason Persohn; great-grandchildren Jason Ring and Braelyn Blevins, and grand cat Autumn, grand dog Chief.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm and a Celebration of Life will start at 2:00 pm with a committal service to follow. All services will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery in Webster, Texas. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Jewish Voice or Somebody Cares America/International (Israel Fund).
