

Mary McGee Bridges, of Texas City, Texas went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 12, 2015. Mary was born May 11, 1950; graduated from Ball High School; was a Union Steward and a member of Telephone Pioneers; and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 36 years of service. Mary then worked at the Gulf Greyhound Track after her retirement. She was a faithful member of Highlands Baptist Church in La Marque until her health declined. Mary loved going to her country home, loved to travel, going to Canton, Texas to shop and liked her ceramics.
Mary is preceded in death by father Herman McGee; mother Minnie McGee; sister Janie Gamble; brothers John H. McGee and Collis "Skippy" Wenning; her dog Taco Bridges who was her little girl and life companion.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years and the love of her life, James Bridges; brother Bob "Butch" Wenning and wife Jackie of Franklin, LA.; sister Pat Fernandez of Knoxville, TN.; nephews Robert Villamil and wife Sandra of Galveston; Collis Wenning Jr. of San Antonio and favorite cousin, Gilbert Zamora Jr. of Galveston, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mary enjoyed all of her friends including childhood friend Carol Kershaw and close friends from Southwestern Bell, Bobbie Hartman, Joyce Quevedo, Bettie Donaldson, and Patsy Ceccacci. They formed a club for "girl's night out" and named it SBC MIS FITS and adopted Carolyn Franks into the group. They met once a month for the last 10 years going on shopping trips and many vacations. Mary was the "photographer" of the group, and made everyone photo albums each year. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, January 23, 2015 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 3 p.m. also at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to a charity of your choice.
