Matthew Berry Rogers

Matthew Berry Rogers, of Pasadena, Texas, passed away March 3, 2023. He was born in Pasadena on December 23, 1981, to Russell and Jackie Rogers. Matthew was a teacher in Pasadena ISD for 15 years. He coached basketball and football at Southmore Intermediate early in his career. At Sam Rayburn High School, Matt taught all core subjects, most recently English. He taught in general education and special education settings. Matt was also a youth sports referee in basketball and football and an umpire in baseball. He coached Little League baseball as well. Matt’s hobbies included buying and selling sports cards and collectibles, all sports, and sports gaming. He was very generous and had a passion for helping others, especially children.

Matt was preceded in death by his grandparents Wanda Broughton, Odis and Nancy Everett, Louise Kirbow and Wiley Rogers, Uncle Lloyd Everett, and Aunt Maxine Blankenship. He is survived by his parents Jackie and Russell Rogers, brother Dwayne Wiggins and wife Kelley, nephews Aaron Wiggins and Alex Wiggins, Aunts Jean Blankenship and Tammy Lewis, Aunt and Uncle Linda and Jim Davis, PaPa Bill Kirbow, and cousins Shannon Davis, Cheryl Scott-Roca and husband Mark, as well as a host of friends and loved ones.

A visitation for Matthew will be held Monday, March 13, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598. A celebration of life service will occur Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598. A committal service will occur Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598.
