

Michael Thomas Grunden, 49, beloved son of Walt and Carol Grunden of League City, Texas, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at his home in Houston Texas. He was born the third child of four, in Van Wert, Ohio, and later moved with his family to Fort Wayne Indiana. He attended several programs for special needs children there, and continued his education in Indianapolis, Indiana, first at the School for the Blind, and then at the School for the Deaf. The family moved to Galveston, Texas in 1982, and Michael finished his formal education at Texas City High School after his 22nd birthday.
After living in several cities in Texas, he has resided in Houston since 1996.
Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents Walter Sr. and Elsie Grunden, and Bernie and Mary Michalec.
Survivors in addition to his parents are his sisters Mary K. Douglass and spouse Patrick, and Susan E. Hancock, and his brother John A. Grunden and spouse Daneille; also his uncle and Godfather William Michalec and spouse Deborah, and his Uncle Joseph Michalec, and his Aunt Juanita Muntzinger, also numerous counsins, nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be Wednesday March 19, 2014 from 5:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway Webster, Texas 77598.
Services will be conducted by Deacon Sam Dell ‘Olio on Thursday March 20, 2014 at 12:30 P.M. at Forest Park East Funeral Home, with interment immediately following the services at Forest Park East Cemetery.
Pallbearers include: John Grunden, Trevor Grunden, Mike McCann, Jerry Reynolds, Les Swenson, and Richard Thiem
Honorary Pallbearers include: Patrick Douglass, Alex Gibson, William Michalec, and Joseph Michalec.

Michael lived his life to the fullest of his ability, always looking ahead in anticipation of the next special holiday or other special event. He is now at peace and without pain.
