

Mieko Takeuchi Zeno, a long-time resident of Houston, Texas, was born in Ashikaga, Japan on January 13, 1931. She passed away on July 13, 2025, at the age of 94. Mieko was known for her feisty spirit, perseverance, and helpful nature.
Mieko's life took a pivotal turn in Japan when she met her husband, John Zeno, Jr., who saved her, marking the beginning of their life together. They were married on October 20, 1958 and enjoy 55 years before John's passing in 2013. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Michael and Monica. Mieko was a proud grandmother as well.
Her personal interests included cooking, a skill influenced by Mabel Zeno who taught her the art of good Creole food in Louisiana. Mieko enjoyed knitting sweaters and blankets, sewing her own clothes, and watching the Food Network.
Mieko was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John Zeno, Jr. She is survived by her children, Michael Zeno and Monica Williams, who continue to carry on her legacy, as well as her grandchildren, Lais Milburn, Anthony Barnett, Leilani Barnett, Sofia Zeno, Brooke Williams and her Japanese grandchildren Koichi and Saoukoon and her daughter-in-law Christa Zeno and son-in-law Corey Williams, the one that kept her laughing all the time.
