Minnie Ola Herrod Spence Kylberg, 95, of New Caney, Texas, and long resident of League City, Texas was born on October 23, 1930 in Kickapoo, Texas to William and Sue Herrod, and passed away on February 27, 2026. Minnie was faithful and the sweetest presence—steady in love, gentle in spirit, and deeply devoted to the people and the life she cherished.
A working life marked by dedication and quiet pride, Minnie spent 22 years at Johnson Space Center with the NASA Exchange. Her faith was a true anchor throughout her life, and she was a life member of League City United Methodist Church, as well as Friendship United Methodist of Porter, Texas. Minnie also found joy and fellowship through the United Methodist Women, the Nacogdoches Shrine RV Club, the New Caney Garden Club, and the North Crest Ranch Bunko Group—communities where her warmth and steady kindness could be felt by all who knew her.
Minnie’s happiest moments were often the simplest ones: cooking and baking for others, playing cards, quilting, ceramics, fishing, gardening, and RVing—especially when those moments were shared with friends. More than anything, Minnie treasured time spent with the people she loved, creating the kind of memories that live on in family stories and in the quiet traditions passed from one generation to the next.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 21 siblings; her first husband, Billy F. Spence, to whom she was married for 25 years; her second husband, Marvin L. Kylberg, to whom she was married for 29 years; her son, Larry A. Spence; her (step) son, Michael L. Kylberg; and her daughter-in-law, Daphne “Lynn” Spence.
Minnie is survived by her sons, Barry Spence and Andy Kylberg and his wife Rita; her daughters, Linda Spence Sellers and her husband Cecil, Beverly Kylberg, Shirley Kylberg Showell and her husband Robert, and Kathy Kylberg Walton and her husband Mike; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, funeral starting at 1:00 pm and a committal to follow. All services will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home Cemetery, located at 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, Texas.
