
Mrs. Nancy Lucille Lochridge Wilkins passed away after battling pancreatic cancer on July 20, 2011. Mrs. Wilkins is survived by her daughters, Lisa Gwendolyn Wilkins and Gina Barbara Fisher and husband Jerry Fisher. She is also survived by her grandson, Cole Fisher, who was the light of her life. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Gwen Griffin, and best friends, Barbara Hooks and Anita Cadena, and angel caregivers Gloria Ventura and Whitney Hayden. She also leaves behind her precious Lhasa Apso, Miss Tassie.
Mrs. Wilkins was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William Wilkins, her parents Jack and Adele Lochridge, her brother-in-law James Griffin, her sister Barbara Maas and husband Herbert A. Maas both founders of Maas Nursery in Seabrook, Texas.
A native Houstonian, Mrs. Wilkins grew up in the Lindale area and was graduated from Jefferson Davis High School. She married her childhood sweetheart, William “Bill” Wilkins, on March 16, 1952. Nan worked for several years for Pullman Company and then Texaco. Bill was with Houston Lighting and Power for 37 years. Nan and Bill, as they were known to everyone who knew and loved them, settled in Glenbrook Valley where in 1963, they welcomed their daughter, Lisa Gwendolyn, and then in 1965, rounded out their family with their daughter, Gina Barbara. They were married 50 years until Bill’s death in 2002. Lisa and Gina each graduated from Charles H. Milby High School. Both daughters completed their education earning Bachelor’s Degrees in English Literature and Business Finance, respectively.
Nan and Bill were members of Park Place United Methodist Church for many years. Nan was attending West University United Methodist Church with her daughter, Lisa, who is a member of the Chancel choir, until her passing.
A memorial service will be held at West University United Methodist Church on Friday, July 22, 2011, at 3:30 p.m. Floral tributes are welcome as Nan loved beautiful flowers, however memorials may also be made to Houston Hospice in Nan’s memory.
