Naomi Kilgore, 90, of League City, Texas passed away October 20, 2015. She grew up in East Texas and came to League City in 1948 to be the band director at Webster High School. In 1949, she met and married Joe Kilgore, who she described as “the most eligible bachelor in town.” She said this was the best decision she ever made. Together, they built a legacy of love and respect for their family and the community.
Naomi worked together with Joe on many things from making the family business successful, to raising their two children; Julie and Jim, who were her most important accomplishments. She and Joe helped them to succeed, and taught them to be grateful and to work hard. Naomi insisted that they get along. She doted on her grandchildren, Suzanna, Jacob, Alex, Alexandra, and Dawson, and instilled confidence in them to succeed wherever life took them.
Naomi was a woman of action and loved to help those in need. She was always teaching, always learning, and always trying to make things better. She had a passion for keeping up with current events and supporting political causes. She loved corny jokes and a good game of cards, and was a welcoming hostess who greeted her guests with a hearty “get in this house” even if they already were in the house. She also had grit and determination: A true Texas woman, she had a way of getting things done.
A visitation will be held Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home. The Celebration of Naomi's Life will be Friday, October 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to immediately follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
She touched many lives, and made the world a better place. Thanks be to God for Naomi Kilgore. We say with all our hearts, Vaya con Dios.
