Patsy Carolyn Hines was born on August 26, 1938 in Sherman, Texas and passed away on Oct 9, 2013 in League City, TX. She is survived by James M. Hines, her loving husband of fifty-two years. Their only child, Renee Hines, died in 2004.
Carolyn grew up in Sherman, Texas and graduated from Sherman High School in 1955. She attended North Texas State University majoring in music for two years before going to work as an Airline Stewardess for American Airlines. She left American in 1959 in preparation for her marriage to Lt. James M. Hines who was still stationed at Perrin AFB, at that time.
They were married on January 2, 1960 and remained in Sherman until Jim was transferred to England in November 1963. Carolyn and their daughter, Renee, accompanied Jim to England.
Jim spent two years flying with the British Royal Air Force (RAF) and while there the family was assigned to quarters on RAF West Raynham. The whole family became immersed in the British culture. Carolyn was determined to make it a two-way street for talent and she introduced her British counterparts to the American custom of performing musicals using the talent available from the officers and their families. The two-nation group was very successful in their amateur performance of "Gypsy".
The whole family traveled extensively overseas while Jim was still in the military. After completion of his military tour she and the family continued touring in the sense that most of his assignments included time in Hawaii and Germany.
Wherever she was assigned, she was able to establish close and permanent friendships. This was clearly shown to her husband as the news of her death was in every instance highlighted by extensive weeping.
