

He retired in 1980 after working 13 years for Harris County and 25 years for the Carnation Ice cream company. He lived in Houston, Texas. He was married to Jovita C. Reyes for 72 years. He was a member of First Methodist Church Houston. Raphael and Jovita joined First Methodist Church in 1971.
He served in the Army from 1943 to 1946 during WWII. He attained the rank of Corporal (T5) and received the following medals WWII Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, AP Theater Ribbon and Bronze Service Star.
His important life events were marriage and family life. Some of his hobbies were woodworking and auto mechanics. Some of his favorite songs were Amazing Grace, The Lord’s Prayer and The Little Drummer Boy.
He is preceded in death by parents, Jose and Cruz Reyes; brothers, Roy Reyes and Robert Reyes; sisters, Judy Guzman and Rosie Guzman.
He is survived by his wife, Jovita C. Reyes; sons, Joe and Raphael Reyes; daughter-in-law, Kathryn and Michelle Reyes; grandchildren, Jonathan A., Joseph A. and Kristina K. Reyes; great grandchildren, Anthony Salinas, Haley M. Reyes and Bennett A. Reyes.
A visitation for Raphael will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598. A committal service will occur Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598.
