Raul Franco Lopez

Raul Franco Lopez, 63, of South Houston, Texas, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Wharton, Texas on October 26, 1960 to Aurora and Domingo Lopez. He was married to Sandy Lopez for 36 years.

Raul had a passion for baseball and football, even serving on the board for the South Houston Little League as his children grew up. In his free time, you could always find him cooking, cheering on Houston’s professional sports teams, or catching the game of one of his children or grandchildren. He was someone the family could always count on to show up for special events, when someone was in need, or just to drop off a trinket he’d found that made him think of you.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Aurora and Domingo Lopez.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy, his children, Jonathan Lopez, Christopher (and Kristin) Banks, Alaina (and Jason) Cardenas, Brittney Lopez and Anthony Lopez (and Yesenia Alamillo), his grandchildren Jonathan Lopez Jr., Gabriel Banks, Jaelynn Cardenas, Katelyn Banks, Bailey Lopez, Jason Cardenas Jr., Jenna Lopez, Jaslene Soto, Ethan Huerta, Sophie Lopez, Bradley Banks, Anthony Cardenas, Liam Huerta, Julianna Turcios, Andrew Lopez, Avah Cardenas, Jeanette Turcios, Nolan Huerta, Olivia Huerta, great granddaughter, Eleira Banks, his brothers, Johnny (and Linda) Lopez, and Daniel (and Alma) Lopez, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A memorial gathering for Raul will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024, with a private gathering of immediate family at 4:00 pm, followed by a memorial gathering from 5:00pm-6:00pm for extended family and friends.
