

Reynaldo Rivas, 83, of Kemah, Texas passed away on February 2nd, 2018. Reynaldo was born in Refugio, Texas on November 22, 1934 to Nicolas and Libraelo Capistran Rivas. He was married to his loving wife, Karen King Rivas, for almost 30 wonderful years.
Reynaldo had a passion for and found his career in Aerospace Engineering for Lockheed, (1961 to 1994) and Boeing, (1994 to 2011). He was one of only two people who were associated with the space shuttle from its beginning to its completion, spanning a time of 30 years. He was a crucial part of both the Columbia and Challenger investigations. Reynaldo also enjoyed running, weight lifting, plants, cooking and relaxing with classical music. Reynaldo was the recipient of the, “Snoopy” award.
Reynaldo was preceded in death by his mother and father; son Richard Anthony Rivas, “Ricky”.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen King Rivas, daughter, Nicole Leigh Ruben, son Anthony Teodore Rivas, Andrea Rivas. Brothers; Bevian Rivas, Wally Rivas. Sister; Luz McDade and many other loving grandchildren nieces, nephews and loving friends.
A private rosary will be held from 5:30pm to 6:00pm at Forest Park Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Forest Park East Funeral 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598 with a rosary from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. Forest Park East Funeral Home with interment to immediately follow at Forest Park East Cemetery. Pallbearers are Anthony Rivas, Johnathan King, Randy Rivas, Patrick Ruben, Bill King, and Josh Kise.
