Richard Lee Langford, loving husband, father, and Papa, went to be with the Lord on April 15, 2022, after a long, brave battle with serious illnesses. Richard was the grateful recipient of a donor heart in 2012, and he felt extremely blessed to have been given the opportunity to enjoy his family, including the birth of his first grandchild since then. He overcame many health challenges in his lifetime, and bravely faced each with a positive outlook and strong faith in the Lord to carry him through. His many caregivers and medical staff over the years have always remarked on his thankful, gracious spirit.
Richard was born in De Queen, Arkansas on December 31, 1949, to Leatha Lee and Billy Alvin Langford. After relocating to Texas in the sixties, Richard met the love of his life, Beth, and they married on January 24, 1969. Their dedication and true love for one another is unparalleled and noticed by everyone.
Rick and Beth have three adoring children, and they fondly remember dad’s biscuits and gravy every Sunday morning, watching Rockets and Astros games together, board game nights, his homemade popcorn and Mexican food, his big sense of humor, infectious laughter, and how well he loved them.
Richard is preceded in death by his brother, Billy Gene Langford; Billy Alvin Langford, his father and Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas, where Richard was a proud member and deacon. He is survived by his mother, Leatha Langford; brother Scott Langford; loving wife of 53 years Beth Langford; sister-in-law Doris Parker; his children Ricki and husband Thomas McCarther, Joshua Langford and Leigh Ann Langford; beloved granddaughter Mercy McCarther; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends and church family.
Services for Richard will be officiated by long time family friend and fellow deacon at Bethel Baptist Church, Marshall Risinger.
