Robert Samuel Moore was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on January 3rd, 1927. He passed away in the same home and in the same bedroom as his darling wife, Elsie, in Deer Park, Texas. He went to be with our precious Lord and Savior on April 14, 2020 at the age of 93 due to natural causes.
He was born to Johnnie and Golda Louisa Moore. Robert was married to the love of his life, Elsie Marie Parrish; they were married for 65 years. Their children are as follows: Robbie, and wife, Susan; James, and wife, Joyce; Floyd, and wife, Twyla. There are 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and various other almost family members.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Golda Moore, in-laws James Glen Parrish, Eddy and Corrine Carlson, sister Johnnie Taylor Barton, and brother Kenneth Moore, and grandson Benjamin Moore.
Robert had amazing skills and enjoyed his hobbies. He was a member of Local 213 Carpenter’s Union. He was a good builder and added many pieces of furniture to his home, for family members, and for friends. He was a dedicated fisherman and had several fishing buddies through the years, including his sons and grandsons. He was well known for his shrimp gumbo, and large gatherings for southern style fish fries and hush puppies. Together, he and Elsie enjoyed traveling to see relatives, friends, and sights in places like Washington, Oregon, California, Montana, Colorado, and Oklahoma.
Robert was a faithful servant at Deer Park First Baptist Church where he had been a member since giving His life to Jesus in 1958. He served his church family as part of the Brotherhood, a Deacon, giving advice for building projects, a Bible study teacher, and all-around encourager. He was involved with Rudy and Vangie Dillard in a Lay Renewal Ministry helping many people return to their first love for Jesus. He also helped with the hair and nail ministry at San Jacinto Manor.
Robert was called Husband, Daddy, Paw Paw, Brother, Uncle, and Fishing Buddy. He will be missed by family and friends because for most, he was a caring, gentle man, and he was a welcome mentor to many.
Due to restrictions on all our lives at this time, Robert's service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date when those that loved him so much may gather to reminisce and remember the blessings and joys of a life well-lived.
