
A graduate of Aquinas High School in La Crosse and the University of Wisconsin in Madison, he worked as an electrical engineer on tasks around the country, from the Manhattan Project to NASA’s Space Program. In 1964, his family came to stay in Seabrook, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents in 1946 and his wife of 55 years, Elrae (Gustafson) Sweet, in 2003.
He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Herold of Stoddard, Wis.; two sisters-in-law, Violet Davis of Casper, Wyo. and Shirley Hefti of La Crosse, Wis.; four children, Margaret (Joe) Smith of Cumming, Ga., Alice (Ed) Faatz of Port Byron, N.Y., Robert (Jean) Sweet of Houston, Texas, and Patricia (Juergen) Bahr of Seabrook, Texas; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and his cat, Blackie.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 10, 2011, 6 – 7:30 p.m. at Forest Park East in Webster, Texas. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, 10:30 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Nassau Bay, Texas. His final resting place will be next to his wife in Mormon Coulee, La Crosse, Wisconsin.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to any animal shelter or charity.
