

Rosa Vasquez Tijerina, 90, passed away Tuesday March 5, 2024. She was born July 7, 1933, in Houston, Texas to Martin & Guadalupe Vasquez. She engaged in holy matrimony on November 20, 1955 to her husband, Esequiel Tijerina, celebrating a total of 68 years of marriage. Rosa worked for the Pasadena School District at Stuchberry Elementary from 1972 to 1989. She moved on to Garfield Elementary later in 1989 and continued working there until 1994. She was a member of Azaleas Club, Hibiscus Club, and spent her free time volunteering at Southeast Memorial Hermann as a translator in the NICU and Gift Shop. Outside of volunteering, Rosa filled her time doing the things she enjoyed, word searches, reading her books, gardening, knitting, crocheting, and above all else; spending time with her family.
She loved spending time with her family & grandchildren. Rosa was the sweetest person who never met a stranger and always had a kind word. Although she is no longer with us physically, she will always remain in our hearts, where we will always remember her & shall never forget the amazing & loving woman we all knew her to be.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Martin & Guadalupe Vasquez, brothers; Charles Vasquez, Jesse Vasquez, and sister; Carmen Hernandez.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years; Esequiel Tijerina, Son; Kim Tijerina & wife; Reyna Cabrera, Daughters; Kathy Tijerina-Adams & husband; James Adams, Rose Carey & husband; Paul Carey, Grandchildren; Tiffany Tijerina, Nicole Ellinger & husband; Kyle Ellinger, Esequiel Tijerina-Adams & wife; Amber Tijerina-Adams, Riley Carey, Chelsea Carey, Ally Carey, Great grandchildren; John Silas & Eliseo Tijerina-Adams, Brothers; Salvador Vasquez, Johnny Vasquez & wife; Carol Vasquez, sister; Socorro Aleman, numerous brother & sister in laws, nieces & nephews. She was a loving wife, mother, & grandmother.
A visitation for Rosa will be Friday March 15 6pm-8pm, Rosary at 7:30. Saturday March 16 Visitation 1:30pm, Funeral Service 2 pm, outside ceremony 3pm at Forest Park East Funeral Home 21620 Gulf Fwy
