October 3, 1934 to Martha and Aubrey Woodfin.
Scott’s goal in life was to fly airplanes, and he made his dream come true in the US Air Force. He joined the Air Force as a distinguished air cadet with a regular commission out of Texas Tech University and received his BS degree in Economics in 1957. He was an outstanding athlete in football and received a scholarship for track at Texas Tech.
Scott was a cadet corps commandant and graduated Distinguished Air Cadet from Tech.
He attended pilot training at Bainbridge, GA, Webb AFB, and Valdosta, GA where he graduated #2 in his class of 30. He was selected to fly the F-101 B out of the 84th Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Hamilton AFB, CA.
Scott married Alice Kathryn Woodfin, his one and only bride, after completing pilot training at Moody AFB. He spent 13 years in the Air Force including San Francisco, Laredo, Honolulu and Saigon, S Vietnam before moving to League City in 1972 where Scott and Kathryn would raise their two sons, Scott Jr and Stephen.
Some of the positions Scott held were Combat Intelligence Officer in Vietnam, Flight Check Test pilot, Commander of the 3500th Field Maintenance Group, pilot training instructor, F-101 B Line and alert pilot with the Texas Air National Guard at Ellington AFB, corporate jet pilot for five companies in the Houston Area. While in the Guard, he was selected to go back to the USAF on active duty at the Pentagon, headquarters for all Air National Guard Units.
Besides flying, Scott had a passion for history, woodworking and repairing things broken. If it’s broke, he will fix it for you. He was a wonderful man to have around the house and one who loved his family and home. He is in his eternal home now and probably keeping all the gadgets working and trying out his heavenly wings.
Scott is survived by his wife Kathryn, two sons, Scott, Jr. and Stephen, Cousin Richard Davis of Sweetwater, TX, James Robert Woodfin and wife Bobbie Sue of Sugar Land, Jim Woodfin and Jill Nels of Sugar Land, Jane Bowers of San Antonio, Richard Woodfin, Jack Woodfin of San Pablo, CA, and Jane Ann Kendrick of Nacogdoches.
