January 12, 1940 – May 5, 2024
Shirley was born on January 12, 1940, to Mary and Claude Brannan in Brady, Texas. She spent her youth in San Angelo, Texas. But in 1959, at the age of nineteen, Shirley met a young serviceman named John Connaly and on June 6, 1959, they married. Shirley and John went on to have five children, Johnny, Mary, Michael, Robert and Sherry. In 2023, they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.
The family traveled around America while John was in the military, but settled down in League City, Texas where Shirley worked as an electronic technician at Lockheed Martin for 25 years before she retired.
Shirley loved all her family and friends, but especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. When not taking care of her family, Shirley enjoyed cooking and canning. Shirley loved to have annual summer holiday parties at the house where friends and family would all gather, and Shirley would greet them with a margarita in her hand. She enjoyed taking annual trips to Las Vegas with John and almost weekly visits to The Hop to go dancing.
Shirley was preceded by her parents, Mary and Claude Brannan, her brothers Claude, Jimmy and Gene and sisters Janice and Georgie and her son Robert.
She is survived by her husband, John, her children Johnny, Mary, Michael and Sherry. Grandchildren David, Amanda, Trey, Stephanie, Jared, Meghan, Breanna, Kaden and Gavin and nine great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Heritage Baptist Church – 2732 FM 528, Webster TX with viewing starting at 10 a.m. and the service at 11 a.m.
