Shirley Faye Porter

Shirley Faye Porter, 81, of League City, Texas, passed away April 22, 2017. She was born in Texas City, Texas on July 31, 1935 to Isaac and Harriet Hood. She was married to Levi Sherman Porter for 62 years. Shirley worked as a beautician and was the owner of Chat & Curl Beauty Salon. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a life time member of League City United Methodist Church. Shirley was immersed in her love for music for which she sang faithfully in the choir and was a gifted soloist. Her life was anchored in Christian love and will be honored and remembered with deep affection by all that knew her. She was also a baseball fanatic on all levels!

She is preceded in death by parents, Isaac and Harriet Hood; brother, Delbert Hood; sister-in-laws, Lucy Hood and Jean Hood; great-grandson, Malik Isaac Allen.

She is survived by husband, Levi Sherman Porter; daughter, Sherrye Alston and husband Gary; sons, James Sherman Porter and William Gene Porter and wife Rowena; brother, Newman Hood; 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and foster grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
