

Terry Gordon Holt, age 71, of Houston,Texas, began a new adventure on Saturday, September 11, 2016. He was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma, to Charles Preston Holt and Virginia Lee Holt, the first of three children. He married the love of his life, Brenda Wallace Holt, on October 22, 1966, in Houston, TX. Terry always told anyone who would listen that
she was his best friend and helpmate.
Terry had an illustrious career in manufacturing, and was a long-time member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He received the Associate in Arts degree from San Jacinto College in 1971 while employed in design at Gray Tool in Houston, where he spent numerous years in the engineering department.
Terry joined Triangle Grinding, Inc. where he served as sales and service engineer for eight years. In the early 1980s Terry and family moved to Singapore with Bralorne Resources Ptd Ltd., where he was the Triangle Grinding Inc. Southeast Asia Representative. Returning to the U.S. in 1982, Terry and Brenda settled in Pass Christian, MS, where he worked as a manufacturing engineer for Paceco, Inc., a subsidiary of Fruehauf Corporation. He then joined ITT Engineered Valves, moving to Tupelo, MS. Moving back to Houston, he served as a sales and service representative for numerous manufacturing companies. He retired from the City of Houston Department of Public Works and Engineering as Community Service Inspector.
Terry loved the outdoors, and his passions were fishing and hunting. After retirement, he and Brenda spent many happy times at their lake house in East Texas.
Terry was preceded in death by his father Charles, and his best friends Richard Miller, Mervin Norsworthy, J. W. Hart and Randy Black.
Terry was proud of his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. His survivors include daughter Ebon Holt Swofford, son-in-law Rob Swofford, and grandchildren Addison Kay and Braden Charles Swofford of League City, TX; and his son Richard Preston Holt, daughter-in-law Roxanne Browning-Nash Holt, and grandson Caleb Wallace Holt, of Los Angeles, CA. He also leaves his mother, Virginia Lee Hohweiler Holt, of Pearland,TX; sister Rita Diane Holt, of Conroe, TX; and brother Richard O. Holt, of Round Rock, TX. His nieces and nephews include Stacey Youngblood and husband David; David Moreland, wife Nina and children Elizabeth, Preston, and Catherine; and Christina D. Holt Lynch and husband Will. He is also survived by aunts Christina Turbush, Mary Lou Lennington, and Beverly Baird.

A celebration of Terry’s life will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Forest Park East, in League City, TX. Visitation will be held from 11:00 until 12:30, followed by the service, with minister Carl Durham officiating. A brief graveside service will be held at 1:30, followed by a reception for family and friends.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Foundation in America in Terry’s memory.
