

Walter Douglas Oren went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 12, 2015. Doug was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on March 4, 1926. He and his 5 siblings were born to Emelia and Benjamin Oren. When Doug was 4 years old, the family moved to Seattle, Washington where he grew up. While in the Army Air Corp. in San Antonio, he met the love of his life Beverly LeVack; they were married on January 26, 1946. Doug was always proud of his family.
Doug served as a minister for several churches in the San Antonio and Houston areas. After retiring from Forest Park Cemetery, he and Beverly began Mail Services of Houston. Doug always had an amazing head for business. They traveled extensively enjoying people from around the world. An open invitation to Sunday dinner always followed. They were members at First Baptist Church Houston for many years where Doug served as Deacon and was Santa in many Christmas programs. They were members at Sagemont Church at the time of his passing.
Doug and Beverly were very involved with the International Refugee Mission, later became Bridge Builders International. Both organizations ministered in Latvia, where they traveled numerous times. Doug was a very loving, affectionate, and generous man.
Doug is preceded in death by his mother, father, four siblings, and his oldest son, Michael.
Doug leaves behind his beloved wife of almost 69 years, Beverly; brother Richard Oren and wife Marie of Seattle, Washington; daughter Candy Baughman and husband Mike of League City; son Ben Oren of Houston; son John Oren and wife Elise of Houston; daughter Nancy Wilson and husband Bob of Friendswood; son Richard Oren and wife Marleine of Seabrook; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. He also had many much loved nieces, nephews, and children of the heart.

The family will receive friends for a visitation on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster, Texas. The celebration of Doug’s life will be held Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Sagemont Church in Houston, Texas with officiating by Doug’s grandson, Dr. Oren Martin, and Doug’s long time faithful friend Chuck Kelly, President of Bridge Builders International.
