He was married to the love of his life Janette C. Johnson for 51 years. Walt had a career in oil and gas for Champlin and Amoco/BP. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and motorcycles. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Walt enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1963 and faithfully served until his honorable discharge in 1969. During his service, he was awarded the Rifle Expert Badge. In 1965, Walt joined the Army Rangers to continue serving his country. While in the Army he received numerous merits including the National Defense Service Medal, Parachutist Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Aircraft Crewman’s Badge, Air Medal (1-15 OLC), and 2 Purple Heart medals.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walton, Grace, and sister Mary.
Left to cherish Walt’s memory are his devoted and loving wife Janette, daughters Debbie Johnson and Sheri Sheppard, son-in-law Michael Sheppard, and grandchildren Cortland and Shelby.
