Bill was born Sept. 5, 1942, to the late William H. Boswell and Neva (Jackson) Boswell. He grew up in Waldo, Arkansas, and lived for many years in Magnolia, Arkansas, later in Pensacola, Florida, and Pearland, Texas.
Bill graduated from Waldo High School and went on to the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, where he was a brother of the Kappa Sigma fraternity and earned a business degree.
At college he met Martha Ann McDaniel. They wed Aug. 26, l966, and had two children, William H. Boswell III, known as Trip, and Elizabeth Ann Boswell. Martha Ann predeceased him in 2007.
Bill and family were active in the Magnolia community as members of First United Methodist Church and Bill enjoyed very much providing hot meals to those who needed them in the Stewpot ministry. He worked with his father in managing Columbia Transit, a trucking company, as well as caring for members of his extended family.
In retirement he moved to the Gulf Coast including Pensacola, where he met Judi. They wed in 2018 and enjoyed the coastal lifestyle there and later in Pearland, where she cared for him through his battle with congestive heart failure.
He is survived by his wife Judi; his son Trip, Trip’s wife Lori (Perry) Boswell, plus their children Martha Hope Boswell and William H. Boswell “Harry” IV, of Dallas; and his daughter Elizabeth and her husband John Rega of Brussels, Belgium.
Bill loved cooking, traveling, hunting and fishing, passions that he shared with many friends and loved ones over the years. He was a vivid teller of stories from his travels as well as family lore. He was a keen home handyman and was known to address maintenance items in the homes of acquaintances both old and very new – sometimes with reluctant consent of the homeowners. He enjoyed gardening and could identify any tree, plant or flower. He also could name that tune, as well as the artist and year of release, for any song from early rock ‘n roll.
The family welcomes remembrances in his name to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
