Willie Gene Simpson, 84, of Porter, Texas, passed away on May 30, 2017. He was born in Billstown, Arkansas on September 22, 1932 to William Otis and Lillian Grace Simpson. He was married to Mary Terry Simpson for 36 years. Gene had a career in mechanical repair for M.R.E. He had a passion for carpentry; building gazebos, fences, stools and churches.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Jo Reda Gremillion, Roberta Blanchard and Veda Simpson; and parents William Otis Simpson and Grace Simpson.
Gene was survived by his loving wife Mary Simpson; children Larry Gene Simpson, Teresa Crisp, Cheryl Simpson Clede, Rosonna Murray and Gilbert Lopez; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother Elvin Simpson; sister Dessa Fenter and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 5, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2017 9:00 a.m. at Longmire Church of Christ 200 Longmire Road, Conroe, Texas 77034.
