Yong K Drope

Yong was born in South Korea and moved to the United States in 1974. She married Edward Drope and they had two children, Eddie and Shirley. Despite only having a third grade education, Yong worked diligently to acclimate to American culture, learn the English language, and went on to successfully achieve her US citizenship in 1998. She worked over 25 years and retired from UTMB in Environmental Services and has spent the remainder of her years enjoying her family, gardening, and traveling.

Yong is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters in South Korea. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Rhonda Drope of Texas City, TX. Daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Gary Billiot of Hitchcock, TX. Grandchildren Kelli Bruner, Sierra Bruner, Cheyanne Bruner, Miranda Bruner, Brandon Drope, Daniel Farmer and his wife, Christina, Breanna Billiot, Monae Billiot, Makesa Billiot, and Micary Billiot; and sisters and brother in South Korea.

Funeral services and interment will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home & Cemetery located at 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598 on Saturday, July 1st, 2023. Visitation will start at 9AM, with service to begin at 10AM. The family would like to express their warmest thanks for the wonderful care she received at The Lev at Winchester Lodge in Alvin, TX as well as Heart to Heart Hospice.
