

Zalia Petersen passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 in Houston, TX. She was born on July 17, 1928 in Houston to Elbert and Zalia McCall. She graduated from Pasadena High School in 1946 and married her high school sweetheart David Petersen. Zalia was a devoted wife and mother and loved her family and friends unconditionally. She was a member and served at Asbury United Methodist Church. Zalia loved to travel, play bridge, read, work crossword puzzles, and was a terrific cook and hosted many family gatherings to keep her family close.
Zalia was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Petersen. She is survived by son Stephen Petersen, daughter Robbie McKinley and husband Ronald, daughter Belinda Fischer and husband Dan, brother Jeff McCall. Zalia was also blessed with the love of her grandchildren Sara Freeman and husband Nick, Timothy Shaw and wife Elizabeth, Faythe Fischer and Blake Fischer, great-grandchildren Nolan, Brooks, and Jameson Freeman, David and Addilynne Shaw, and Ayden Rupley. She was also blessed with nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends. Her love, wisdom and generosity will be missed by all.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Forest Park East Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 10:00am at Forest Park East Funeral Home.
