

SOUTH WELLFLEET - James D. Williams, widower of Irene (Turko) Williams, passed away at his home in South Wellfleet, MA on November 1, 2013 after a long bout with cancer. Jim was comforted in his last days in the company of his sons and family; Michael and his wife Lynne, Mark, and Kevin and his wife Donna, and grandson Alex.
Jim was born January 13, 1933 in Lockland, OH to Naylor and Hazel (Osman) Williams and is survived by his two sisters, Kathryn Roberts of Orlando, FL, and Doris Baker of Morrow, OH.
A 28-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Jim retired as a Senior Master Sargent and moved back to the home he and his wife purchased in South Wellfleet, which was the start of a 50-year relationship with Cape Cod.
Jim and Irene loved visiting different countries while he was with the USAF, where they developed a passion for art and antiques – an activity they explored constantly at numerous shops on the Cape. For many years, Irene and Jim owned the Treasure Chest antiques and collectibles store and Video Stuga on Rte. 6 in Wellfleet.
Jim was also an avid tennis and bridge player all his life; activities he thoroughly enjoyed with is many friends on the Cape.
Jim was always frank and spoke his mind freely. He would discourse at length on the failure of politicians to govern with compassion and in the best interests of our citizens. He was passionate about enjoying life to its fullest and valued friendships and family above all else.
Visiting hours are from 4p.m-6 p.m. Tuesday, November 5th at Nickerson Funeral Home, 340 Main St., Wellfleet. Burial will take place at 2:30pm Wednesday, November 6th at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
