She was a mother in a generation when mothers stayed at home and looked after the home, husband and children. This she did; we didn’t have much money, but there was love to spare. She would take in any strays we would bring home, 2 or 4 legged. We could always count on her, she was always giving, never expecting anything in return. She was always there for us, her faith in us never wavering, her arms open to hugs, and her love never faltering.
The last few years have not easy for her; breaking both hips, and the dementia robbing her of her mind. She often forgot she could not walk alone or could not do all the things she did in the past. She was robbed of her life as she knew it, and taken back to some point in the past, no longer able to recognize her family. She was suborn and was not going to let anyone or anything tell her when her time was up. She decided her time was December 29th, during her favorite pastime; her afternoon nap.
We know she wouldn’t want us to be making a big deal out of this. She knew she was the old dinosaur, as she was very lovingly called by her sons. She was blessed to live a 92 ½ year life; despite all the hardships, trials and tribulations of raising her children on her own after the death of her husband Willie on April 10, 1967.
Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, we will never forget you.
Love always, the Junior Dinosaurs.
