Mr. Gonsalves was such a pleasant cheerful and hard working husband and father. We were blessed to be able to share our lives with him and today he will be missed but he is awake in the Mighty Hands of our Lord Jesus.

My sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Gonsalves. Although I never had the honor of meeting him, I feel as though I knew him through the love and honor Patrina has always expressed for her grandparents. A beautiful legacy of love and  strength.

I pray that God wraps His arms around your family and brings you comfort, peace, and strength during this time. May His presence be felt in every moment, and may His peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard your hearts in the days ahead.

I’ve lost my Great Beloved Uncle. My Uncle wasn’t only an Uncle, he was a dad to all his nieces and nephews, and to many others who had the chance to be among him. Visit his home and there is always something to eat and drink. You will never leave there without eating. His words was to his wonderful wife (R. I. P. My beloved Uncle Bern was more than just an uncle to me — he was a gentle, steady presence who shaped so many of my earliest memories. From the time I was a young child, he carried a kindness that you could feel simply by being near him. He had a way of making you feel safe, loved, and welcomed, no matter how small you were or how long it had been since he last saw you.
I will forever hold close the beautiful days we shared growing up in Guyana — the laughter, the warmth, the sense of family he helped create. Those moments are woven into who I am. And as I grew older, every visit to Canada brought that same familiar comfort. No matter how much time had passed, he greeted me with the same love, the same gentle spirit, the same genuine joy that made him so special.

Dear Grandfather,
The words "Grandfather love you" are echoing louder this morning than they ever have before. I’ve been sitting here thinking about how you were the first man to ever tell me I was loved. You didn’t just say it, you gave those words to each of us with a hug that felt like a shield.
Those moments were never planned or staged. They were just raw, emotional, and intentional. In a world that can feel so calculated, your love was the most honest thing I’ve ever known.
I think back to our home, filled with the loud "oldies" you loved so much. I can still see you and Grandmother dancing, the way you held her and moved with such grace. It’s a memory I’ll carry forever, especially seeing you both glide across the floor at my wedding. But my favorite memory will always be the first time you taught me to waltz. I can still feel the weight of my feet on your toes as we moved to Engelbert Humperdinck’s A Better Man. I remember the pride I felt in that moment, looking up at you and smiling.
You were a serious man who worked hard every single day, but when you did smile, everything felt lighter. You loved this family with every fiber of your being, and that strength has passed down to me.
I want you to know that I am the woman I am today because of you. I am a reflection of the way you loved me. When life gets heavy and I feel like giving up, I’m going to stop and listen for your voice saying, "Grandfather love you." To me, those words are the definition of quiet strength and resilience.
I will cherish our memories forever. Thank you for teaching me how to dance, how to work, and most importantly, how to be loved. You are finally with your forever love Grandmother.

I'll not forget my beautiful,  caring, loving uncle, whom I grew up with  as my father from the day I was born, 9th February 1957. He was a firm but deeply loving man.  Even though we left Guyana on the 21st January 1968 he was always with me. If not in the physical sense,  in the emotional,  spiritual  and mental sense. Uncle Bern and my granny, his mother helped to shape the woman I became.  I say this because my impressionable days were spent with them both. I'll share a little story now to show the impact he had on me. One day going as usual to aunty Sheila and uncle Bern for lunch something was said to me that made me walk away from the group. I was walking to granny who was at the market. Uncle Bern came along on his bike, made his enquiries and then told me to get on the bike. When we arrived home I was given one slap in my right hand and told not to listen to stupidity 🙄  because it could cause my life. Some may say that was harsh but I say it was firm and  taught me a lesson that stood me in good stead for the rest of my life. 
Another memory was our Friday nights  treat. Sitting on the steps with a piece of Cadbury chocolate,  some aunty Sheila's home made ice cream and singing songs. My childhood up to when I was 11 was the best because you were in it. 
RIP Uncle Bern,  you're back with your loved ones. I'll miss you always but it was your time to go. My Memories I made with you are too many for this page but will stay with me forever.
