Carlos Ferreira Vasconcelos

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carlos Ferreira Soares Vasconcelos, who the Lord called home on February 4, 2026, at the age of 87 years. Carlos was born on February 28, 1938, in Oliveira do Conde, Portugal, to his proud parents, Manuel and Ermelinda, with whom he is now reunited in heaven, along with his beloved siblings, Antonio, Manuela and Mario. Carlos remained deeply connected to his beloved sister Filomena, and brother Henrique.

Carlos was a kind warm-hearted, courageous man who at the young age of 26, immigrated to Canada, paving the way for family to follow. As a man of his word, he later returned to marry the love of his life, Fernanda, and together they came back to Canada to build their family. They were blessed with two children Charles and Marilyn and adored his daughter-in-law Maria and son-in-law Jose.

He was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Christina, Michael, Alexandra, Tiago, and Marco, each one a source of immense pride. Their laughter, accomplishments, and presence lit up his life. He held a special place in his heart for all his nieces, nephews, sister-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Carlos never believed that family was defined only by blood. His warmth and generosity created a wide circle of extended friends and neighbours who became family to him in every sense, he cherished each of them deeply.

He was a storyteller, a craftsman, a provider, and a man whose stubborn determination was matched only by his love. His daily reassurance to his wife, “It’s okay, Nanda, don’t worry,” will echo forever in the hearts of those who were close to him.

Carlos leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and devotion that will continue to live on in every life he touched.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Giffen Mack Funeral Home, 4115 Lawrence Ave. E., West Hill, on Monday, February 9th, from 2–4 p.m. and 6–9 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday February 10th, at 10:30 am, Our Lady of the Rosary, 2950 Midland Ave., Scarborough, with a reception to follow at Giffen Mack Funeral Home.
