It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David Eric Stiles, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Born on September 10, 1942, in Uxbridge, England, David was the beloved son of James Lloyd Stiles of North Gwillimbury, Ontario, Canada, and Agnes Young McKay Pattison of Rutherglen, Scotland. He grew up in Toronto near Avenue Road and St. Clair with his parents and older brother Jimmy, where he developed a lifelong love of sports and adventure.
David shared 58 wonderful years of marriage with Aloisia Maria Mueller, his steadfast partner and best friend. Together, they built a beautiful family and life filled with love and laughter. He was the proud father of four children:
• Lisa, married to Matthew Nadon, parents to Grant and Claudia
• Christine, married to Ed Downey, parents to Edward and Kathryn
• Theresa, the self-proclaimed favorite daughter, married to Nick Colangelo, parents to Nicholas, Alexander, and Matthew
• Jonathan, married to Mitika Gohil, parents to William
David’s career as a service advisor at Alex Irvine Motors spanned over 25 years, where he earned the trust and loyalty of countless customers. His dedication and integrity were often rewarded with heartfelt gestures, especially at Christmas when grateful clients gifted him bottles of wine and spirits—perfect additions to his famously well-stocked basement bar. His basement, complete with an antique pool table and disco balls, was his pride and joy and a gathering place for family and friends.
An athlete at heart, David played football with the Junior Argos and fearlessly guarded the net as a hockey goalie. He and his brother Jimmy shared a passion for racing go-karts, and David loved recounting stories of driving at Mosport and Saint-Jovite, Quebec, boasting that his open kart outpaced the race cars on those tracks. Later in life, he enjoyed playing catcher on a men’s slo-pitch team, where he was celebrated for his strong hitting—even if his running was less than speedy.
David was a tireless supporter of his children’s activities, cheering at hockey games, ringette matches, baseball fields, and dance recitals. David and Aloisia were foster parents for over twenty years and opened their home to over 50 foster children.
Known as the ultimate handyman, he could fix anything and maintained a workshop stocked with every tool imaginable. His weekly ritual of checking the Canadian Tire flyer reflected his enthusiasm for home projects. He took immense pride in his home, his lawn, and hosting lively pool parties that brought joy to all who attended.
Though not Catholic at the time of his marriage, David faithfully attended Sunday Mass with his family and, 25 years later, chose to join the Catholic Church—a testament to his devotion and values. Above all, David was a loving father who instilled in his children the importance of hard work and family. His warmth, sense of humor (dad jokes), and generosity touched everyone who knew him.
David will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he enriched. His legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of those who cherished him.
Visitation will be held at the Giffen – Mack Funeral Home, 4115 Lawrence Ave, E., Scarborough, on Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Highland Creek, 200 Morrish Rd, Scarborough on Friday, November 28, 2025 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow.
