Don’s passions were movies and telling jokes. His lifelong love of films began while working as a theatre usher as a teenager, quickly working his way up to manager. Although he went on to spend most of his career working in the Ontario criminal courts system, his love for the cinema never waned. After retirement, Don kept busy by serving on numerous boards of directors, including the Toronto Film Society. Don was known by all to have an incredible knowledge of the silver screen, and to always have a joke ready at hand. Even while in hospital, Don never lost his sense of humour, often displaying his quick wit for his doctors and nurses.
