She was born to Mr. & Mrs. John and Amelia Choy in Buxton, Guyana where she became an Elementary and Secondary School Teacher.
She married Colin Stephenson and was the proud parent to Bernard, Dawn, Donna, Byron and Denise.
She became a Christian in 1980 and was baptized in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After living in Brazil for 15 years, she migrated with her family to Toronto and there established a beautiful home for the children.
Some of her favourite hobbies were singing, listening and dancing to music, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, board games and crosswords. However, cooking and family get-togethers were her most favourite times. She also founded a home-based business providing daycare. Above being a loving and caring person, Doreen loved the Lord. She was an active member of Global Kingdom Ministries (previously Scarborough Gospel Temple) participating in prayer, visitation and was also a host for a Bible study small group. She really loved the fellowship of her church family and was known for her kind and approachable demeanour.
She is survived by her husband Colin, five children, 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; her siblings John Choy, Brenda Hill, Maurice Choy and Jeanette Doobay and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members. She’s pre-deceased by her parents and siblings Gloria Khan, Ronald Choy, Gerald Choy and Rita Blajezewski.
She will be dearly missed by all.
May she rest in peace in the arms of our Saviour.
