She was such a beautiful  person .. a woman of God indeed.  She was always smiling,  she carries the light,  kind, caring loving. Such a sweet woman. She is indeed in the arms of our Saviour so sweet.

I know Aunty Doreen most by the GREAT LOVE I have seen showered on her by her entire family.  Beyond  Mom, she was the eternal love of my Uncle Billy.  The same vigor he had running up and down the steps, two at at time, was the vigor waiting (serving) on his forever Girlfriend.  Somewhat slow in its delivery, Aunty's wit was quick and packed with punch.  It at first caught me by surprise, while Billy grinned at his girl, but ... I learned ... and I had a wit to match. From then, it was always Game On when we chatted.  
The GREAT LOVE I witnessed was merely a reflection back of the Love she had ceaselessly poured out to  all.  Every family gathering  was a fun Celebration of Life, a heritage passed on to all the children. It is even in quiet Pastor Bernard.  Just break out a board game and you see the fire glowing in his eyes.  It is burning in cool Byron and the mellow Dawn.  It burns in Denise and Donna when they step on the dance floor. Her beat lives on and on. 
Aunty Doreen's GREAT LOVE was reflected back to her in these latter years.  Caregiving and Patience are supreme expressions of it.  A laying down of self.  When not direct, it was to relieve those who steadily tended to her. 
Aunt Doreen carries her beat (Billy's drum beat) into heaven.  But for us who are still here, her GREAT LOVE echoes in us and around us.

My heartfelt condolences to Uncle Billie, cousins and family circle. Mummy always said that Aunt Doreen had a heart full of grace. I smile in my recollection of Aunt Doreen and Gem (mum) delighting in special moments with family. Always a smile and a kind word. As school children, me and my siblings were blessed by Aunt Doreen’s goodness enjoying her yummy cooking at lunch break. She loved us generously, steadfastly and compassionately. In our hearts forever.

I never met your Mom Dawn, but we have one thing in common we are sisters in the Lord and that we can celebrate that your Mom has gone to meet her King, Our Maker, where there’s no more pain and no more sorrow, take it from me from a sister to another sister who also lost her mother it will be  very difficult and there be times, hours, days  turn into ,weeks, months and years where you will reflect and cry and that void will still be there, and  that’s  okay, that’s the Love that tie you to your mother together,,  back in my country we call that the navel hole or  the umbilical cord, what usually helps me out of this situation,I Yeas I’ll CRY And  SING PRAISES TO MY GOD🙌🏼 Yes And he will help you through those days when it comes . May God’s love and presence bring you and your consolation as you navigate through this painful time. Your Mom’s memory will always remain forever in your heart  for this I know . And may the Love of God’s Grace and Glory bring you and the Stephenson Family Peace,Strength and Comfort as you grieve for your loss 🙏🏿💐

I was always found her to be  a soft spoken gentle lady.

I recall the day I met the incomparable Doreen Stephenson some thirty-two years ago, like it was yesterday. It was in the kitchen of her home and she greeted me with a warm smile and welcoming hello. Two years later, Doreen Stephenson would become my mother-in-law. Over the last three decades, I have come to love, respect and admire “mommy” as an incredibly kind, compassionate, and endearing human being who was also strong woman of God. You could not be in her presence without feeling the peace that radiated from her.   

You’ve left us and gone on to glory. And although our hearts ache for the loss of you in our company, we know that you are in the presence of God as you sing and dance above the angels. 

We will keep you with us and your enduring memory will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved you. 

Thank you for everything that you were and everything good you left in us.
