Dorothy Sarah Burry

It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Dorothy Sarah Burry, of Scarborough, ON. on Monday, January 3, 2022 at the age of 93. Dorothy joins her beloved husband Gordon, and her sons Eric and Brendon. She is survived by six of her loving children, 19 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

Dorothy was a Christian woman woman who taught her children to kneel at our beds and say the Lord’s prayer each night. She would tell her children bible stories when she was preparing dinner, and when making her bread. She would sew most of her children’s clothing, even creative enough to create a bathing suit for her daughter, Madeline, which she was extremely proud of. Dorothy will be remembered by all for her knitting skills, as she knitted her family slippers, mittens, hats sweaters, and blankets. In her later years, she continued to knit head bands for her great grandchildren, up until she was 92 years old.

She always wanted her family around her. Family meant the world to Dorothy.

Funeral services will be held at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home, located at 4115 Lawrence Avenue East, Scarborough, ON. and will be private and by invitation only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
