Ena Irene Rowe, age 95, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, at Centenary Hospital in Scarborough, surrounded by her loving family.
Ena was born in St. Philip, Barbados, to Evannie Boxill and Ometa Blackman. She was the heart and soul of her family and a pillar of strength to all who knew her. She was the devoted wife of Oliver for 69 years, a loving and dedicated mother to Patricia, Debra, Brian, Greg and Nigel. The proud grandmother to Kaeisha, Brandon, Ryan, Shimeka, Simone and Jasmyn. Ena was also the beloved sister of the late Edna Blackman and Rosemelle Lucas.
Ena will be fondly remembered for her deep love and devotion to God, her appreciation for life, and her generous and compassionate spirit. One of her greatest joys was her beautifully tended garden, whose annual blossoms and produce brought her immense pride and happiness. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, spouses Maria Rowe (Greg) and Etienne Gagnon (Kaeisha). Especially her friends and family in Barbados, including Alison and Ashley Lucas, Ellen Lucas, and Raydeen Hunte.
A strong and determined woman, Ena was always willing to help those in need. The Rowe family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to the many lives she touched, rather than the sadness of her passing.
Funeral services will be held at the Church of Nativity, 10 Sewells Road, Scarborough, Ontario, on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Her viewing will take place prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 2700 Kingston Road, Scarborough, Ontario.
Donations in memory of Ena Irene Rowe may be made to the Scarborough Health Network (SHN), in lieu of flowers.
